Time for a new build

I haven't done this for a while but I think it's time to go back to a desktop, I have been using laptops for the past 8 or so years and I'm due an upgrade, I was looking at the Dell XPS 15 9510 which is currently £2599 but then wondered if it was time to switch back to a desktop so figured I would come back and take a look here.

I don't do much gaming anymore, I would like to spec a system mainly for photoshop, blender, unity. Budget is £2599.

I do need monitors, but would prefer 2x 24" monitors rather than one larger one, unfortunately the pickings seem slim at OC in this size range so I am thinking of 2 x Dell Alienware AWH2521HF

I would also like the build to be as quiet as possible and would probably prefer water cooling but I really do not have a clue where to start with this.

I am not very up to date with components or specs so have simply tried to copy the specs of the Dell laptop, this list is likely to completely change as I start researching. This is what I have come up with after a very quick browse:-

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,961.81 (includes delivery: £15.90)

With Zen 4 about to be released there are supposed to be some big discounts coming soon, so it might be worth looking out for a cheap 5900X or 5950X, they perform very well with things like blender. I suspect that Intel won't discount the 12700K and 12900K to the same degree.

Yeah, best wait for new releases.

But very expensive CPU+mobo and mid level 7 year warranty PSU and DRAMless QLC Flash cheapo SSD isn't balanced.

Thanks for the info, it will probably take me a few weeks to look at hardware and make up my mind anyway.

Roughly how long until Zen 4 is released?

Yeah to be honest I am so out of touch I just sorted by most recommended and picked something that was currently in stock, what would you suggest to balance it?

With so much out of stock and no idea what becomes available/how prices develop it's harder to say surely what will be sensible choises.

But if you're frequently doing things writing big amounts of data, or generating lots of temporary data, it might be sensible to consider write endurance of the drives.
Besides being just number visible (hopefully) in specifications, that's also official limit for end of manufacturer's warranty besides years.
They just hide that fact into small print.

For example Phison E16 based Seagate Firecuda 520 and TeamGroup Cardea Z440 would have trippled 1800 TBW endurance compared to normal 600 TBW.
