Ok the trusty Mk4 GT TDI is getting on a bit now , its a 52 plate with 140K on the clock and I have had my money out of it and done well over 100k of this milage .

I have £10k to spend on top of a £4k deposit with the Golf . The car needs to be able to do 32,000 miles a year and be good on disesel , comfortable at 80-85 mph as I mainly drive motorways. It does not have to be big three door hatch will do .

The obvious choice would be a Mk5 GT TDI golf but what else would you guys suggest .

Keep your Mk4. If you are just going to go out and buy another diesel hatchback you may as well keep the Golf, look after it and it'll do another 100k without too many issues.
