Time for a new monitor

Hi all,

I have been using a 50” 4K Panasonic AX802 TV as my screen for the last year or two as I have been mainly racing in Assetto Corsa and just recently Project Cars 2. I was going to get VR for racing and a smaller monitor for everything else but I will wait for gen 2 or 3 as the resolution is not quite there yet even if the experience is amazing.
I want to start playing BF1 and PUBG again so have been looking at a few options.

Samsung CF791
Samsung 27HG70
ASUS PG279Q

I game with a 6700K at 4.7ghz and a Gtx 1080 G1. Should I just bite the bullet go for the G-Sync model? What are your thoughts? Anything I should be considering before deciding?

Out of those three, it would be the CF791 all day long. I looked at that monitor myself. The other two will be a poor experience for you moving down from a huge 50" screen.

Hi Ivan,
What games do you play? Can you max everything out and still hit 100fps? How does the monitor handle FPS lower than this? Any tearing?
Sorry for all the questions!

Mostly play Witcher 3, which is capped at 60fps anyway and elite dangerous at the moment. Elite manages 100fps maxed out, but it's not a particularly demanding game. I suspect more demanding games would need the settings dropping if I wanted to maintain 100fps.

I haven't really noticed any tearing though. Seems nice and smooth to me. Colours are great, blacks are pretty deep for LCD and there are no dead pixels or backlight bleed.

I do occasionally notice a bit of motion blur, but only in occasional circumstances. This is a trait of VA and I can put up with it for the pluses it brings.

Great news, it does look like a really great monitor.

The only thing really missing is gsync. But then that would add £250 to the price.

I'm not too keen on the white back panel I guess, but you don't really see that. Not sure why the didn't make it all silver or black and silver.

This monitor was the only choice for me personally as I wanted an ultrawide, 100hz and VA panel for around the £700 mark.

I personally would go with the Asus one. Although they're quite expensive, they are super premium displays and are a treat to look at

The Agon is a similar price isn't it? Or it was. And comes with Gsync.

Tbh we're so close to Black Friday it's probably worth waiting a couple of weeks to see what deals land :)

I think the agon is an ips though? Didn't want to play the panel lottery. Also grey blacks of ips are not desirable to me.
