or is it.

Hey guys,

it's time for me to get a new PC only problem is I have kind of no idea about the components these days and there is a lot of info for me to read up on.
So my basic question is, is there any specific reason why I should NOT buy a PC at this time? Reasons I could think of is revolutionary new hardware being released soon or prices are about do drop of whatever.

What I want to get is a pc for high res gaming/media stuff. I like to get the best there is (budget allowing of course) and I would like it to be futureproof.

My budget is ~ £1000 for the tower itself.

This is what I would consider to get, altho at £1,323.33 it is about £200 too much.

- Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-750TXUK)

- Zotac GeForce GTX 260 "55nm Maxcore" 896MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (ZT-X26E3KA-FSP)

- Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - Retail
- Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black (No PSU)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Youve gone for a prebuilt, if youre happy to build yourself you can save some cash
The PSU is more than ample, you can save some money there
Do you really need blu-ray on your PC?
Theres no reason not to buy now, theres alwasy something on the horizon, if you play that game you'd never buy anything, lol

Hows this look for you? Doesnt include an O/S, didnt know if you wanted one
Its got a very solid mobo that will allow for any future upgrades, you could save yourself a bit of cash and get a lower spec model tbh, got dbl the RAM too
The case + psu is pretty budget but should suffice, if you're not comfortable you can swap it out for separate case and a 650W Corsair and still be within budget

The reason why I chose a prebuilt is because I dont feel comfortable selecting the individual components at the time since I have barely any knowledge regarding compatibility issues etc.
I would consider building the system from scratch but only if the benefit in cost outweighs the risk associated with sticking them pieces together since I havnt done much more then replace a graphics card in the last two years.
A blueray drive is not something I would need right from the start I suppose but I do need one eventually so instead of getting a dvd drive now and then replacing that later I figured that I might as well get it now.

Well all those components I selected for you go well together, Im sure others will give you their 2 pence worth too, the spec I did is, imo, much better than the prebuilt one, and saves you almost £400 so yeah its quite a difference, if you want bluray then just sub in the blu ray drive, the one that was in original spec is good, will push price up about £40 as theyre about £60 instead of £20 for basic DVD

I'm going to replace the Biostar TPower Intel X58 with the Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 for the onboard sound.

Thanks a lot for the help, greatly appreciated :)
