Hi folks,
I,m looking to get a new PC - thought of building my own to make best use of money, but would prefer a pre-built in case anything goes wrong.

I was wondering which of the OC pc's you would recommend (based on specs).

I have between £800-£900. It would mainly be used for gaming, with some photo editing too. I will also need a copy of windows. I have looked at the Titan rigs and quite liked the look of the Triceratops with a GTX40.

What's your thoughts?

edit - just to add in the fact that you still have £70 left of budget if you wanted to get a better cooler for oc'ing it, or if your not as concerned about money you could get a 6950 and flash it to a 6970. It will outperform a 460 by a mile.

It's all right but you could have so much better if you build your own

Yeah I know. Just a bit nervous about doing it as I've never built my own PC . I have replaced plenty of components before - CPU fan, power supply, graphics card etc. I'm just worried about spending that kind of money and building it and it doesn't work. I can't just hand it back and say 'fix it'.
I also like the idea of someone else doing the overclocking for me.

On the other hand I have always wanted to have a go at building my own pc.

I've never done a build from scratch myself. I'm the same as you though: Heavily modified it by replacing so many parts.

It's gotten to the point that I'm pretty comfortable switching out pretty much every component apart from the mobo.

I'm planning on building my brother a PC for his birthday. Pushed it back to next month because he has to pay to get his car fixed and can't give me his bit of cash towards it. But I've just been reading up on the different components I want to get and doing plenty of researching about what's compatible with what.

I think you should go for building your own. If you have any questions, just ask the board. Just look at the spec you wanted to buy outright then do a little bit of research on each bit and mix and match things about. Then look into whether they'll fit one another.

Self build does mean better spec for price. Just don't know if I've got the guts to try!

If I did I would go for an i5 Sandybridge, probably water cool the cpu and something like a GTX460 GPU or better (depending what money I had left) & 4Gb ram.

Serious food for thought.
