Time for a new PSU?

Am running 650w Antec bought 2010 on my main rig and a Tagan 480w bought 2004/5 ( I think - may be older!) on my secondary rig.

Both can easily cope with the loads they have to carry , so no 'need' to upgrade/replace.

The worry is simply the age of the Tagan - it still runs true and quiet - is it more likely to fail due to age?

For peace of mind a good idea to replace the Tagan with the Antec and buy a new seasonic/xfx 750/850w psu for the main machine?

Thoughts appreciated :)

And just as an idea how long before you would change ,simply, because of how old the psu is ?

PSU's generally don't fail because they are a few years old. I wouldn't bother unless your PSU dies.
Both the Antec and Tagen are very much protected, so if they do fail they shouldnt take out your other components.

Tagan isn't a bad brand by any means and has a reasonable protective circuit in place so shouldn't kill anything if it dies. To be honest I'd leave it be, but if you have the budget and fancy a change then go for it.

Thanks - Excellent advise - you have put my mind at rest :)
