Hey guys,

As the title suggests, its time for me to build a new rig (even the wife agrees! :D ). I will basically use it for online gaming - mainly COD2 - and I have been looking for new bits on the web but need advice.

I already have a Antec P180 case ready in the box, but pretty much need everything else.

I am going to go for this -

Video card - BFG 8800GTS 320mb DDR3 Dual DVI PCI-E

CPU - Intel Core Duo E6300

I have read that the E6300 is a good overclocker, so, rather than spend more money and go for the E6600, I think I will stick with the E6300 and overclock it. Should I just stick with the stock fan?

Can you recommend a good motherboard, RAM (2gb?), Hard disk (thought about a 10,000rpm one!) If the motherboard was compatible with the Quad CPU then that would be a bonus, as that would be my next upgrade sorted!

A power supply. Not sure what one to get either.

Finally, what 19" TFT monitor would you recommend? I have a 17" LG and has worked flawlessly since the day I got it, but wouldnt mind a 19" :p

Im considering going with Vista but might just wait until SP1 comes out!

Any other suggestions / ideas / configurations / cash are all very welcome!

Many thanks for any of the above! ;)

Wrong forum btw, General Hardware is probably better for this kind of thing.

All the C2D's clock well, the E6600 has more L2 cache (4MB) though. If your OCing it's better to get a good HSF such as the Tuniq Tower.

The BFG 680i M/B is pretty good, but the Gigabyte DS3/DS4 are pretty good too.

Raptor's aren't worth it really a pair of Seagate 7200.10's will beat them.

Corsair 620w is very good, the best at the moment.

Something from Dell wouldn't be bad.

For gaming I wouldn't, but as a general OS it should be alrite.

TBH, i dont really see the need to go from 17" TFt to 19" as there would be no resolution gains, i.e 1280x1024 would be the max.

For general looks though, and if you dont mind staying with that res, 19" sounds like an idea, if u can get urself a good deal.

Thanks for your replies guys.

I think I will go for the BFG mobo and the E6600.

Do you think the Corsair 520W PSU would do the job? Just trying the save a bit on this so I can get the mobo and CPU above.

It should power it just fine, or check out the OCZ GameXtreme 600w for a little more power.

Also I have a Gigabyte DS3 mobo and been very happy with it.

Deffo get an aftermarket cooler, my arctic cooling Freezer 7 pro is doing a great job cooling my E6300 even at 3.15Ghz.

Good luck mate
