I've decided to go for some retail therapy, i don't NEED an upgrade but i've decide i simply want one, reason enough in my eyes :p

Current spec:
i7 860
Asus P7P55D Pro
Patriot Sector 5 Viper II 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR3 1600mhz
Intel X25-M 80GB SSD
Hanns.G HZ281 28" monitor
ATi 5870
An old and very battered Lian Li PC60B

This is the spec i was looking at:
i5 2500K
Asus P8P67 Pro
Corsair Vengence 1600mhz DDR3 x 2 (8GB) - I was just goign to sell the Patriot and get the corsair purely for the lower voltage, but perhaps i'm just being a bit fussy there?
Graphics card - this is mainly where i need advice
Case - i don't need anything big and fancy, i like the minimalist look, not willing to spend loads on one, i've only really looked on ocuk so far so if there are any others i may like please advise
SSD - Should i just keep it and be happy, or sell it and reap the benefits of SATAIII? (or maybe wait for the new faster drives?)
Monitor - Currently unsure as to whether to get two 24" ones, one nice 27" or 1 120hz 24" and save for a second (could get 1 cheap and 1 120hz so long as they matched quite well?)

I'm currently sporting a Be Quiet PSU, i can't remember the wattage but i think it's a 600w or a 650w, would this be capable of xfire/sli should i wish to go down that route in the future?

Advice in the areas where required please? :)

SSD: Wait for the C400 drives in Feb/March
Case: You've said you don't want to spend loads, got a budget in mind?
Graphics card: If you want a decent increase from your 5870 you'll have to go for the GTX 580 or wait for the AMD 6990 really.
Monitor: My personal preference is the 27" option (saving up for one atm).
The BeQuiet PSU should be replaced really if you're going for a top end card and thinking about going SLI.
Also on the RAM you're probably being a bit fussy, your current kit will be fine. :p

Ah i'm an idiot, the one thing i ask other people when they put up spec me threads and i forget it myself... i blame the excitement of a new pc :p

Budget: I'm look at a ball park of £1200 but im easy up to £1400 if the parts prove worth it

As for the SSD, didn't realise they were coming that soon, i shall definitely wait then!

Just wait for ivy bridge/Bulldozer that budget will build you an amazing pc and its not like your being hindered currently.

If you really want to get stuff now keep your current RAM or Get Geil,
I suggest a Ati 6950 for graphics possibly in crossfire with that budget?
Case- Im a big fan of the Coller master dominator advanced.
Keep your current Hard Drives then get a new one when they come out.

Still think you should wait with a budget like that :)

If you're thinking about going SLI/xfire down the line then you'll want a case with pretty decent airflow. Unfortunately most of the 'plain' cases aren't really designed with great airflow in mind. I'd maybe consider this one, if you don't like the blue LEDs of the front fan then they can be switched off:

Also considering your current rig is decent anyway and new SSDs and the AMD 6990 aren't far off, I'd consider waiting 1-2 months?

Haven't been officially confirmed as they're still too far away for AMD and Intel to know accurately, but I believe last word on both was Q3 this year?
