This is paired with a 5600XT - any point upgrading the CPU?

Could have fooled me:

The 1% lows really take a hit in some games on a 4c4t processor.

Games are becoming more threaded not less, and there's plenty out there that are a much better experience on a 6c + CPU.

Granted at this point and unless desperate for a performance uplift, I'd wait on the Ryzen 4000 launch later this year were I the OP.

1440p 60hz then no not really as its already at 5ghz. If you were pushing 1440p high framerate with a much more powerful card then id agree. But with a 5600xt you wouldnt see much improvement.

Be better to wait for something like the ryzen 4000 series if anything before considering.

Nothing to suggest that from the link I posted from 2019
0.1% and 1% lows are not different

Saying that your link is comparing CPU's running at the same clock speed.

That's my feeling too (waiting for the 5000 series though)
