After taking a break from DC projects since the end of the old S@H I have decided to make a return to the party. :D

I literally threw BOINC at my pcs during the week, so I have absolultely no idea if I have set them up efficently so shall be fiddling with them going forward to get some better performance.

Anyways

PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARP!!!

Welcome back to the team :)

What kinda rig you gonna be crunching on?
Nothing major at the moment to be honest, an E8400, and an old P4. Shall be investing in a couple of months though ;)

I am just looking at putting BOINC on my HP Proliant server that I bought last week, but I seem to have a mental block when it comes to the BOINC client, so I wonder if I may ask a few questions? (I have trawled the internet/forum but can't seem to get the definate answers I need):p

  • If I want to run just the Boinc service, do I have to still install the BOINC Manager?
  • I have set up up the account preferences to in theory give me 8 days off offline data, but when I look in my task there appears to be only less than a days worth of data. Any suggestions?
  • The geek in me used to love have a central server distribution of wu's on my network for the old S&H. Whilst I realise BOINC is a different setup, is there anything that does a similar job/role?
  • Optimized clients, are these worth it?

Sorry for the list of questions, but I just want to get up to speed as quickly as possible now.
