My spec

i5 [email protected]
Cpu cooler Thermalright True Spirit 140 (1 fan)
2x4gb 1600mhz hyperx
asus p8z68-v rev. B3
Intel 520 120gb SSD
750GB WD Blue
BeQuiet 450w E9 80+ gold
HIS IceQ 7950@1050/1400
Antec P280 with BeQuiet Silentwings

The setup is slowly getting old even though this is still decent for 1080p, I feel like the CPU is bottlenecking my 7950... I'm thinking of buying an 144hz monitor and i7 + mobo.

Now my question is, if I clock my 7950 to e.g. 1150/1500 (easily achievable in my case), will there be a big noticeable difference compared to my SB i5?

Edit:

Any advice or thoughts on this will be helpful and help me decide.

if I was you, I'd wait for Broadwell.

CPU certainly isn't bottleneck in current setup.

if you feel like spending now, get SSD and maybe GTX970.

SB was a fantasic set of chips, and a 7950 still plays games well. unless you want to upgrade now there is no need to

You could look out for a second hand 2600k to keep you going for a while and with a Z68 board overclock the chip.

How much are the 2nd hand ones going for? I didn't go onto MM for ages

Edit

Will 3770k work on my motherboard? I will probably have to update the BIOS, as the one I have is mid 2012.

Go look at the asus homepage, find your board and then look at the support section, then CPU section and it will tell you.
