Hi all.

I have an HP Microserver as my central file server. It runs Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I want to be able to use Time Machine on my MBP, and have it backup to that. How do I go about doing that?

Also I want to be able to set different addresses depending on where the MBP is, so if it's on my internal network then it'll use the local addresses and it's elsewhere then it'll use the external address. Is that possible?

Thanks, I'll read through those links when I'm home.

wrt the second question. If I want to connect to my server from a device on my internal network then I just connect 10.0.0.10, but if i'm off my network then I use foo.dyndns.org - having given a bit more thought to this then I could just have my local DNS resolve foo.dyndns.org to 10.0.0.10 - then just use foo.dyndns.org as the address for my server.

I've used a combination of that guide and some others, and have it setup now.

I'll not bother with external time machine access for now.
