Time Machine - backup volume can not be found

I reinstalled OS X after a bungled upgrade to 10.5.3, but now Time Machine won't work. I get the error: The backup volume can not be found. I've tried formatting the drive and setting Time Machine up again, but no go.

Anyone had this before? Google seems to come up with people having the problem but no fix !

Which file format did you use to format the drive?

It was the same format it was before and worked. Sorted it now anyway

The new install has to have the same name as the old or Time Machine won't work...apparently
