time machine failing.

i've got a portable 320gb external drive in a caddy connected via usb.

time machine was working fine - completed the initial full backup without issue, and continued to work from thereafter.

however, it's now started to have problems - it complains that there was an error copying files to the disk.

i have tried formatting the drive, verifying it, and then repairing it - all comes back ok.

attempted to setup time machine again, and the backups continue to fail with the same error.

any ideas? cheers.

Try a different USB cable (assuming it's not one of those attached to the drive)
