Time Machine keep saying it ran out of room

My 2TB Time Capsule also have a 1TB USB drive plugged into it, but lately in the past week it keep saying it ran out of room to back up my iMac.

I went into Time Machine but I can only go back 2 days of old backups, can't delete them inside Time Machine. How do I clear it up and free up more space?

Not sure if it's this simple, but can't you take the 1TB USB drive and connect it directly to your iMac. Then delete the contents and re-attach it to your TC?

There should be an option where it deletes the oldest backup when its running out of room. Also when in Time Machine mode, click on the option button and should say delete back up
