Time Machine - pull individual files following restore?

Hi all,

I am thinking of upgrading my HDD and RAM on my mid-2010 Macbook Pro.

I currently use Time Machine to backup all of my documents but I want to start from fresh. Can I install the OS fresh and then pull my documents and photos back onto the system from the Time Machine backup?

I've only ever used TM to do a full restore copy.

Migration Assistant allows you to do this, so yes, you can.

Other alternative is to mount the TM image/drive and copy everything over manually.
