Time machine - will it save my application licences etc

If I restore an application in Time machine will it automatically take with it the serial for that application or do I need to find that from the library folder?

It backs up everything .. you have to tell it what not to backup..

So I would expect, if the application was written sensibly, that it would backup the licences but don't quote me on it.
