So its about time i start making the odd backup of my system every now and again and i thought i could use the 750gb HDD i took out of my MBP (replaced with a SSD) but the Time machine setup process isn't recognising it.

I have attached the HDD to my MBP via the usb/sata cable that came with the SSD and the HDD seems powered up but like i say, its not coming up as i thought (external HDD).

Any help appreciated

I'll give disk utility a go early, didnt think id have to format it seeing it was the original HDD. I didnt really want to do that in case something happened to the laptop at anytime and i can just replace the HDD before taking it to Apple. What i mean by that is if something happened, id replace the SSD with the HDD to save any warranty void situations due to opening the laptop up.

If the above works and i use the Time machine function, lets say once a week. Will that mean that if anything happened the SSD i could just swap them about an continue as if nothing happened?
