I just started folding yesterday and i was reading threads with people talking about c2d's doing <10 min per frame, so i checked mine and im getting around 20 minutes from both cores. The PC is being used slightly during this time, but is mostly idle and there has been no gaming. Have i set it up right?

Have to say that after i installed i tried to run the text client before i realised it was already running. Cant say i even notice that it is running!

Every WU you come across is different so there is the chance you have a slow WU which is why it is taking so long.

I suggest you download this http://fahmon.silent-blade.org/

It is a program called FahMon which monitors the progress of clients on your machine and also on machines on your LAN.

Simply open the program, right-click in the space and click Add client. Then you just have to point it to the folder your client is in. Probably something like Program Files/Folding@Home or whatever.

From there you should be able to see the ETA of the WU and also what project it is. Let us know which project it is running and we can tell you if its a slow arse WU or not :D

Hmm, does seem a little slow - I haven't had a 2414 on either of my C2Ds but I've had a 2411 on the E6300 and it was doing frames in <17 mins for a ppd of 516. It is oc'd to 3150 mind. Is your's overclocked or running stock. Perhaps if you gave us the full spec of your rig, we could make a better judgement :)

Stan :)

yep - it's a big WU (that's why its worth 600 points) but 400ppd is alittle low for a c2d - stock or Oc'ed

It is ram hungry - 100mb+ so that could be a limiting factor especially if you have 2 running  need at least 1gb to do two 600pts and winXP and work

That could be it then, im only running at 2.6 ghz

My system is 6600 at 2.6 (will raise it, but had a problem with MB not recognising HD and did a BIOS restore)
2 gb gskill
1900xt (may start using this soon)

As rich said - welcome - there's a few people here with simular rigs to you - so if you want help Oc'ing just ask.

And get yourself over to the single machine thread and remind rich to list you in the news later today :p (it's that day again rich :D ) so you should have a good showing next week when those two and a few other WU have been uploaded.

As to stats you'll have your very own pages at EOC click on your username - should be at 350ish on page below, about 3 hours after these 2 WU are uploaded.

Strikes me as very slow. My E6600 @2.6 with 2GB corsair RAM is averaging 450-480ppd per core for 2414 WUs (had 3 in as many days)

Update - completed the 600 pt units and started another pair of 600 pt units.

The benchmark avg. has risen to about 430ish - but its around 470 at the moment for the newly started units. Now running at 3.1 ghz (orthos stable for 1.5 hrs, so should be fine)

*EDIT* read the wrong bit, the new project is running at 500 ppd
