Hello,
6 years ago with the help of some friends at uni I built my first and only PC. It still works fine (it turns on/off and i can go on the net) and my other half can play WOW at rather rubbish settings with some huge lag spikes if you do scary things like try and move... At the time it was mid ranged I believe, AMD athlon 64 3200+ (2.21GHz) and 1.5GB RAM, a 7600GT. 2 years ago it got a new power supply as the previous went POP.
I currently use a DELL XPS 1530 Laptop as my machine, which in the last year has had 5 hardware replacements under warranty. When it works its quite nice, but mobo/gfx x2, screen x1, dvd drive x1 and HDD x1 in 12 months screams cheap components. Its a Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4ghz, 3gb Ram, and a 8600mGT. On the laptop i can play modern warfare 2 and suchlike quite reasonably.
the wife has requested that i get a PC that i can mess around on and not have to sit at the kitchen table on the laptop. My budget is £500 +/- 75 ish.
For that i need PC and windows 7. I have an old 17 Inch Samsung LCD screen, that i will replace when i have more money.
I currently have that would be usable, a Coolermaster CENTURION case in silver, and a HIPER 530w type M power supply. I know the PSU is a pants make, the case is ok though. Id rather get a new case, but for the sake of a better PC I will live with it for now.
The PC will be used by myself to play games, and do some odd CAD work but not very often. I play a mixture of FPS games with the odd RTS thrown in.
I had a quick go at a system, but was wondering what you guys thought.
*OVERCLOCKED* AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 550 3.10GHz @ 3.60GHz / Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P Motherboard / Corsair Dominator 4GB DDR3 XMS3 PC2-1600C9 (2x2GB) Bundle £279.99
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card + Colin McRae Dirt 2 Full Game £119.98
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - Retail (Full Version) £79.99
Samsung SpinPoint F1 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD322HJ) £34.99
Samsung SH-S223C/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £18.99
with shipping that comes to £533.95
thats without case/psu... so i would like to save a little if possible.
the reason the overclocked bundle is included and not individually is the extra cost is only about 10-15 pounds and saves me time.
