Finally it's all arrived as requested and in line with what NVidiot kindly suggested, all i've got to do now is put it all together.

Before i ham fistedly bludgeon my way through it, (though i have read the build sticky) is there anything in particular i should take note of?

Cheers and thanks for any advice.

Check the memory is in the correct slots and don't forget to install the 8 pin for CPU power.

Earth yourself on a rad before building and you should be good to go.

It really is just like Lego.... The Software loading is more of a pain than hardware...

Even then -> Windows 7 -> Windows Update -> AntiVirus -> Graphics and other Drivers

Along those lines...

afraid no info in the case manual-i assume the lip is to provide a marker for lining up the holes so perhaps placing one on each corner? hopeully i'm just being a little overcautious

cheers

Never seen that before, almost looks like they havent finished machining them

does the lip fit inside motherboard hole? is the lip not as tall as the thickness of the motherboard pcb? so a screw will make a tight fit.

I think you may be right, unless there not machined correctly, place them in each corner, least you can hopefully check there not going to course problems,

seems that's what they're for - the pronounced points sit within the depth of the mb whilst the others sit beneath gone in no problem but i'd use them away from the shield plate as it made alignment a little fiddly

hmm - next dilemma - i've just popped the 5850 in and noticed there's only 1 six pin from the psu yet 2 connectors on the card - have i made a massive *** Please fully star out swear words ***? edit - mess up

and another - we're now up and running but during my attempt to install W7 its not finding the hard drive - i believe i'm all plugged in, and the hdd light on the case is blinking intermittently, the only thing i can think of is theres no little connector thingy where you set the drive to slave/master etc...could this be the problem?

cheers

i dont like the look of this

Important Note: If you cannot find drivers for your WD drive, it may be because most WD drives do not include drivers as they use a standard driver built into the OS. If the driver is built into the OS or is already installed and the OS continues to look for a driver, your drive has most likely failed or been damaged and needs to be replaced (Please see Answer ID 8: How can I replace a product under warranty?).

i think time to call it a night and contemplate the next step in the morning

don't worry - take your time, ask questions and look in the box for the bits you're after :)

i've enjoyed it, but i imaginbe i'll appreciate it a heck of a lot more when it's up and running
