Time to change my car

Well the time has come to change my car sadly. I love it to bits but I've been offered a good price by someone so it'll be silly to pass it up as I've kind of become bored of cars recently. And with this loss of interest I'm begrudging spending money on it so I'll be looking to downgrade to something boring and cheap. (With a view to get into bikes at some point :D)

I'll be able to use a car from work and/or my mums car so I'm in no immediate rush but the problem is I can't for the life of me decide what to spend or get. I'm in two minds whether to spend £1k-£2k on something cheap and easy or spend around £3k-£4k on something a bit better. A couple of my mates have recently got cheapass cars and I'm loving their "not-giving-a-toss-about-my-car" attitude. I spend a lot of time in Manchester City centre (even more so when I’ll be moving there come summer) so that’s a major plus as I refuse to take mine currently unless I have secure parking.

I’m at a loss really as to what to do. What are your thoughts/what would you do?

I’ve currently thinking, cheap banger, cheap focus or a high mileage mkiv Golf tdi (always been a fan and I’ve been liking the lazy diesel power lately :p). But then I see Civic VTi’s cheap and I think to myself… Oh and an old mx5’s too! Bah I'm confused! :o

Cheers :)
