Hi all haven't posted in a while so here we go!

Going to start with listing the spec of my pc (be nice!):

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ (Socket 939)
DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT (Socket 939) Motherboard
G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX PC3200
XFX GeForce 7900GTX
Akasa Ultra Quiet 460W
250gig WD HDD

Yeah so as you can tell its getting on a bit now and i want to upgrade or build a new pc, what i want to know is a few things.
Can anything be saved, as in just upgrade some parts or is it just best to sell the pc as it is and start form fresh. If i sold it, how much is it worth?

I know that i want to get a new monitor not sure what i have £250-300 put aside for that, thinking dell? 22" or 24"? and also i want a smart new case, was thinking Antec P183 Super Midi Tower.

Hope you can help with some ideas and spec's

cheers

Might be easier to sell the whole pc and start from scratch, to get prices you will need to place a thread in the price check forum in the MM.

What would your budget be including the monitor and what will the pc be used for.

Edit: You could salvage the HD, GPU and possibly the PSU.

You could post it up here ;)

Only thing I can see is maybe the PSU & hard disk if its SATA. But, 500GB+ are relatively cheap.

Do you have a budget in-mind? Primary use, i.e. gaming, etc? That said, £400 (if you have most part including monitor) should get you a decent base/rig.

ok will ask in the MM.

PC will be used for playing games.

ok if i said 250 on a 22" monitor, 100 on the case. and 500 on the rest.

so i total build of 850-900

Edit: i would like the best bang for buck, it needs to last for a few years too.

Dont need to spend 250 on a 22" monitor so Ive put that towards main tower

Thanks for the help, think im going to go for this,

XFX Radeon HD 4870 xXx 1024MB GDDR5
Asus VH222H 22" Widescreen True HD LCD Monitor
Antec P183 Super Midi Tower Case - Gun Metal Black
AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition 2.8GHz (Socket AM3)
MSI 790GX-G65 AMD 790GX (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
Coolermaster Real Power 520w Modular Power Supply
Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Dual Channel.

I liked the idea from one of the reviews of the cpu "You don't even need to overclock the multiplier, there's a FSB switch on the motherboard that sends you straight to 3.35GHz with this chip, good for the novice"

as its the same cpu, mobo and ram that will work?
will i need a cpu cooler or will the oem one be fine?
