Time to have reconsider MS Edge?

I recently swapped to Edge after using Chrome for more years than I care to remember.
Few things I like about it, a few I dislike, same as Chrome,
 
I slowly started using the new Edge but now on it full time, comig from Firefox. Main reason for the switch was the BitWarden addon which is not fully functional in private windows on Firefox but works fine with private windows on Edge.

Overall I'm happy with it being my daily driver. However, I'm missing the undo closed tab feature for private windows which Firefox has but Edge doesn't. Hope that's added soon.
 
Just switched over to Edge from Chrome. My main reason is Chrome on Android being a pain with adblocking, so running Edge there and on my desktop I can have syncing. I'm also really impressed with the MS Authenticator app, works really well and allows you to see you passwords synced to your MS account.

Overall I'm pretty impressed with where MS cloud services are, they are edging (no pun intended :p) out Google in a lot of areas.
 
Not sure how much it's changed recently, but know that it used to give you an ID based on your mac address that it would send with most requests.
Will never trust it unless I hear otherwise.
 
I like it but it's annoying in 2021 that you still have to use a addon to fix the mouse scrollwheel stepping on linux chromium including Edge.
 
As a non technical plug and play user I moved over to Edge recently on my Laptop / Tablet / Phone now totally and performance is definitely better on my mobile devices, especially in our cloud Analytics tools we use at work. The inbuilt ad-block option is a plus for me at least though Im sure there are much better options and the move over was pretty seemless.

All these reviews saying how Microsoft have removed Google tracking code is an amusing contradiction when it's obviously not needed with Microsoft hardware tracking.
 
Love Microsoft Edge, the Adblock Plus ad blocker is a god send. I can watch YouTube in relative peace and quiet...

I know, it's sad for sure. I'd be the first to rave about Microsoft products if they'd just give a little more privacy to us.

As a side note, if you're like me being suspicious of edge due to privacy, you can also use tools like EdgeDeflector to force Windows 10 to respect your chosen browser when using the windows 10 search tool.
 
I'm sure edge is fine but I'm used to Google Chrome, I have a load of extensions I use with it and I have an Android phone with Google being my main web platform so it just makes me sense for me to use Chrome.

I'm sure most people feel the same way so unfortunately it doesn't matter how good Microsoft make edge. Microsoft lost the browser war when they dropped their mobile phone OS/platform IMO.

I use Linux , so ive only used the Linux Version of Edge which is still in development status.

I done some searching and apparently that report about Edge using hardware tracking is misleading and the Uni test itself is suspect as the professor put Google Chrome as one of the best browser for privacy which we all know is not true. Some of the top tech news sites questions this and contacted Microsoft and they responded that it's misleading and explained why and also put up a support page explaining how to change data collection.

Can't say, there's probably a bit of truth on both sides. I personally don't trust either google or Microsoft though, they both have a vested interest in our data. There is rarely motivation without action, especially when it come to big tech companies that have much to gain from studying our habbits.

It's a bit sneaky how they hid the settings. You have to go to Privacy, search and services -> Address bar and search and make sure "Search on new tabs uses search box or address bar" is set to Address bar.
