Time to replace 3 year old PSU

So i went and purchased this one >

I've heard nothing but good things, well that and they are appear to be manufactured for Corsair by Seasonic? Seems suited to power 4800+, asus mobo, 2 HD's, 2 DVD-RW drives, 6 case fans and 8800GTS 640 (maybe sli later on when 8800's drop in price).

So the 520W wise choice for owner seeking value (I shopped around) all-rounder PSU? Opinions welcome as allways.

It will do the job nicely and it packs a lot of power.

I was going to get the 620 version but didnt but suggested it to a freind of mine and his is working fine with SLi

Deliverd, instal went fine and its top quality, very impressed. :cool:

The 120mm fan is the most quiet i've heard within any PSU.

Congratulations. Excellent units. Modular and a five year warranty cannot be beaten for the price.

My HX 520W blew up quite impressively last night.
whine pop hisssss lots of smoke out back.

Whatever went pop released a lot of oil all over the insides, hence a lot of smoke.

However it has a 5 year warranty and OC just told me send it back and it will be replaced.

Just have no idea if it took anything out with it or not until I can replace it ;(

Since february.

but itll be replaced just crossing fingers that nothing else was taken out with it.

Lol, I hope this doesnt start off the same thing the hiper PSU's did, they were well reccomended here once, now look at them

Yeah I bought this on recommendation from everyone on these forums, but its good to know it has a 5 year warranty.

Hopefully this is a rare occurence. Scared the beejuses out of the cats and my girlfriend. The PC was still up and running with all this smoke coming out the back as well. At least the screen appeared to have kept the same display running...

This was until I flipped the switches on the wall as fast as I could.

If it's any consolation, this is literally the first bad thing I've heard about Corsairs.

This is only the 2nd bad one i've heard about so I wouldn't worry too much.

Hehe but I remember buying my Hiper Type R 580w from similar recommendations... That turned out a little less than good.
