As stated in my sig, i seem to have come up against a wall with my overclock on my X2 4200. I'm running at 2530 (230x11) but can't seem to get the machine stable over that, it won't even boot windows at 240. I've tried changing all the Memory dividers to lowest settings, HTT also, so i'm left to conclude that the greedy little begger of an X2 wants more volts. I'm sure it can handle it since I can run SuperPI 32MB test and all the way through Everest and speedfan both report a max temp of 39-40C. It's being cooled by an Artic 64 and some Silver 5 compound.. but right behind the cooler is also a 5inch exhaust sucking the hot air out the case.. i'm assuming it's that, thats making the difference.
So yeah does it sound like i've reached my max overclock for that voltage?
If I have then i'm thinking of going DFi since, for those of you that didn't know, I just ordered an X1900XT last night from here.
My local shop has the Ultra-D lanparty board for £50 which can't be bad... what i wanted to know is, will that do fine for overclocking my X2 or should i get one of the newer boards... i really dont think I will ever Crossfire my card so 1 PCIE slot will do me fine.

so i've heard but it's an expensive cpu to replace if it goes wrong.. i'd rather spend £50 and overclock safely

Fair enough. The dfi ultra-d should be fine for getting more out of that x2 and for £50 it seems a good deal.
