Its lasted me 7 years now but its getting to the point where i look at it and it just says shoot me!

So not after anything specific, if i could buy another new one i would as its been pretty much faultless and just does what is needed.
So what can people suggest? nothing special needed, I've never used side buttons on any mice i've owned and now Razor just seem to be cashing in on there brand name so while its been great value i cant justify £50+ on a mouse. But having said that i don't have a particular budget either.

Currently swaying towards the Abyssus simple because it looks to be from the same line of what i'm use to.

Deathadder is a great Razor pick.

I would also recommend the Logitech G400 and G500 depending on budget / preference

The Abyssus is a good upgrade but if you want more buttons like the Diamondback, the Taipan is better. That said, it's not cheap. I came from a Diamondback as well and upgraded to a Deathadder but I could never quite get used to it and after several faulty ones moved on to the Taipan which is great. The only problem is that Razer Synapse is annoying.

Is Synapse all that bad? more to the point is it needed? I've no need for profiles etc! the Taipan does look quite nice but i think the size of the Deathadder would suit me better.

In reality i could probably just do with a £5 dell mouse but who doesn't like shiny lights :D

Had mine for 6 years and loved it, but when it died I replaced it with a deathadder. Not as light but a bloody good mouse, will take some getting use to as it's taller so makes you cup your hand more than having it flat on a diamondback.

The main problem I have with Synapse is that sometimes it doesn't want to detect the mouse. I don't use it for profiles as such but do have my side buttons mapped to other keys. The problem is that when Synapse doesn't detect the mouse, my buttons lose their key mapping.

The Abyssus/Taipan will be more familiar to you but it's worth trying out the Deathadder first if you can. You can't go wrong with another Razer mouse really.

Deathadder it is :) The diamondback has done razor proud in this instance.
+ Like you say if i don't like it then i doubt i will loose much on it.

I went from diamondback to deathadder 2013, overall it was an improvement,
I wouldn't say that the DA is a perfect mouse though, I found an issue that the scroll wheel is quite substantial and it takes quite a lot of force to press it,
I had a game where I needed to hold left click and tap the scroll click at the same time, but I found that it was impossible with the DA. For general purpose usage though its good.
