Budget wise i dont really want to spend more than £300 plus whatever money i can sell the Sony for. Was looking at a Onkyo or perhaps another Sony. Have enough KEF eggs to run 7.1 but is it worth it?

Any suggestions of other kit to look at would be great.

Thanks

Had it for 4 years and it has been a marvelous AV amp but i just want to get something else. The DB940 has no HDMI so would like something that does.

I don't know. But if you are upgrading, I'd definately go for 7.1 seeing as you are there with the speakers already. I don't know if it makes a big difference, but I mean, you might as well. Also, some amps don't do audio through HDMI, some are literally only video switchers, so beware of that.

How about the Sony STR DG820 which has 4 HDMI inputs handles HD Digital sound etc etc...and can be had for £250

Or there is the Sony STRDA2400ES which is basically the same as the DG820 but has preouts and also will upscale other inputs to 1080p so you can have component upscaled to 1080p, where as the DG820 will only pass through on the HDMI and will NOT upscale...DA2400ES can be had for £380

Just bought the 2400ES to replace my STR-DB930, mainly for the reasons you mention and also wanted 7.1. Got it for £380. Definitely a wothwhile upgrade.

Not even going try to sell my old amp as I doubt it'll be worth the hassle for what it's likely to fetch.
