Time to Start Looking for a New Monitor

Good Moaning,

I'm currently using the Gigabyte Aorus FI32Q X (32" 1440p), which has been very good indeed,
though, due to an increasing need for greater screen space, I'm now seriously considering a new monitor.

I'm unsure whether the following criteria can all be met, but this is what I am presently weighing up:

Size: ideally greater than what I have right now, so 34" or more.
Resolution: minimum of 3440x1440 (up to 4/5K);
HDR: may as well step up to a screen that's fully capable of true HDR;
Refresh rate: preferably not lower than what I currently have (240Hz);
Panel Technology: LCD/OLED... I'm not sure whether OLED might be wise for some static applications; could be ill-advised due to 'burn-in'?
Additional: preferably flat for design work (small possibility where I might consider a screen that has a very mild curve, but not sure...);

I have no set budget and am quite prepared to spend good money on, IMO, what is the most important aspect of the set-up.

Any advice or suggestions based on experience is greatly appreciated, as choosing a monitor can be hard work!

Thanks. :)

Thanks, I understand that 1800R has a less pronounced curve compared to some other examples, so maybe it's a possibility.
Regarding the HDR, I assume that this has true HDR? I've not seen it listed in that way before (out of the loop with monitors).

I'm going to have to read up on the differences between types of OLED technology.

This is another one I've seen that looks to tick most, if not all, the boxes:

Edit: on second thoughts, I think the resolution on this panel won't be adequate for the screen size, so I think it's probably a no-go.

Another option would be to get two 32" screens, but I'm not 100% sure about this at the moment.

Has anyone here moved down from, say, a 240Hz screen to something around the ~120-185 mark and not missed it as much as they were expecting?

Does "true HDR" include HDR10+ Advanced, aka HDR 2.0 ?
There seems to be a number of types of terms/implementation of it now, and what with me being out of the loop,
I guess I just don't want to end up with something that doesn't deliver a good experience.

Cheers for the video. Although these are only demos, it's still quite interesting to view the differences between the images.

Yes. I went from a faulty 49” to a LG C4. I can, if I look hard, notice the drop but for the games (and work) that I do, the C4 144hz is fine.

I think I'm leading towards a 32" 4K 240Hz+ (OLED or IPS). I still might consider a 34"+ ultrawide, though.

I'm put off by 32:9 due to the likelihood of needing to source workarounds for games and other instances.

The only problem, of course, is that running a higher resolution will require more graphics horsepower! :/

240hz at high resolution, your only option is nvidia

I'd think about what % of time your monitor is used for what usage?

So if you're 80/20 in favour of poroduction over gaming, I'd just get IPS, if that ratio is reversed then buy OLED, it is simply unbeatable for gaming.

I think I'm going to wait for the upcoming LG45GX950A (165Hz :/) that has a manually adjustable panel,
though if that doesn't turn out to be an option for whatever reason, then something like the ASUS WOLED XG32UCWMG will be a very strong contender.
I could get two of them and run one alongside the main screen for additional productivity real estate.

Another option, which might be even better in the long run, would be to get a mini-LED which can still deliver a solid HDR experience,
though, from what I've seen on the web, they seem to be less common/have a lower refresh rate.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Monitors Unboxed and other such channels think of the Asrock PGO32UFS as well.

Also, I mustn't rule out the Dell AW3425DW (240Hz), though I wonder if going from a 16:9 32" to 21:9 34" will be a worthwhile move?

Maybe others feel the same way, but I think the main worry I have when it comes to monitors is the hassle of sending them back if faulty.
So, I'm quite happy to pay for some sort of aftercare, therefore, if the screen needs to be sent back then something is put in place for such a situation, like collection of the unit from your address, etc.
I seem to recall Lenovo offering something similar when I was searching for a laptop some years back, though I didn't bother with the option in that instance.
