As the tile says.... My venerable Asus G750 is getting very long in the tooth. I think ive had it for 10 years-ish... and some of the software I use is shifting to W11 and it doesnt make the grade :(
I have narrowed my search down to two chices so far...
5070ti or
5080

These two were chosen based on screen size/quality (min 17.3"), number of drive slots and finally GPU as I'm kinda back into gaming but also do lots of CAD/CAM stuff with 3D printing and CNC.
Games are NMS, Halo with a few C&C style games as well as the usual boring Office stuff.
Budget to a little over 3k but this machine needs the longevivity of this Asus and my previous HP, which lasted me 9 years.... as you can see I like to get my moneies worth out of my spend!
Is the 5080 worth the extra over the 5070Ti ?
Your thoughts please?

Not sure I'd buy those examples.
The GPU is limited to 150W.
I'd question why.
Cooling issue etc?

Can you not go for a known brand?

Such as the

MSI Vector A18 HX A9W 18" Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 9, RTX 5080, 2 TB SSD

@ Diagro, Thank you for the suggestion. Not enough HDD slots and no UK sellers I have any faith in. Lower spec screen and if you read the fine print at the bottom of those specs they are throttled back also. I just found OC to be a bit more honest about actual genuine numbers.....
Why is OC not a known brand??
The biggest hurdle ive come across is most of these fairly expensive machines only have 1 or at most 2 HDD slots. Not enough for me unfortunately... as this is basically a desktop replacement.
I have given some thought to a small tower but lugging that and a monitor etc back and forth to sea would probably become real PITA quite quickly!

The Laptops that OCUK branded sell are rebranded ones IMO.
Who's to say they will keep updating them? I just don't trust that.

I personally picked a Lenovo Legion laptop, because they are far more mass produced, plenty of experience in R&D behind them etc etc. And more likely to be updated going forward. Oh and the very long warranty.

Don't get me wrong, the OCUK one might be fine. However as a long term asset, I wouldn't.

Isnt that the same as one of my links?
is the 5080 worth the extra £££ over a 5070Ti considering the heat/throttling in a laptop??
