Time to Upgrade from a Core 2 Duo?

I have a Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz

I'm thinking of building a new PC, but would like to know if I can look forward to a decent performance boost from the effort. The machine is for FPS gaming and photography processing.

For info - between this build and now, I fitted a Radeon 5770.

Have either of you put this processor on a UEFI motherboard? Is UEFI a big improvement on standard BIOS?

I'd definitely go for a Z68 board if i were you.
The one i got is excellent.
Although there is no coax spdif, which buggers me up a little for my speaker system, but a great one click overclocking board. My cpu went up to 4.7GHz with one click.
Also, if you can't afford a decent gpu right now, the Z68 boards have onboard graphics which are pretty good tbh.
