Had my PC for quite a while, im still gaming and can only play battlefield 4 on Medium settings.

Heres what i currently have:-

- Intel i7 930 (Overlocked to 4Ghz)
- Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel DDR3
- Asus P6TD deluxe
- Ati 5970 XFX Black Edition
- Windows 7 64bit
- Titan Fenrir Cooler
- Corsair HX 750W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply

Do you think i just need to replace a few parts or am i best just building a new PC?

TBH the first gen Core processors are pretty decent, especially an i7 at 4GHz, and I would say that the main thing holding you back in BF4 is your GPU.

If you're planning to upgrade the lot, I would first upgrade your GPU and see what gains you get. If you're not satisfied with that alone then upgrade the rest. You've lost nothing, and could potentially save hundreds!

Could try a GPU upgrade first as the CPU is still capable of running games smoothly.

A 280X would be a good start, if you are still finding game play sluggish, you can go from there and upgrade other parts.

Edit: Beaten by Havana, took the words out my mouth! :p

I'll buy myself a new graphics card and see how it goes and probably get an SSD as i dont have one of them either :O Could i use both of my graphics cards in the same PC, say an R9 with the 5970?

You wouldn't be able to crossfire those 2 cards, no.
You wouldn't need to either!

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £359.99
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £86.99
Total : £456.58 (includes shipping : £8.00).

There isn't anything wrong with that spec really.

I use 60gb SSD and hav fit win 7 and LoL with some space left and then use a hdd for other games and general storage. If you wanted to put more things on the SSD just get the 256gb model or 512gb if budget isn't an issue

I'd get an SSD and a new GPU either 280x or 290 depending on budget, as said above you can get a larger storage SSD.
I'd also consider upgrading to 2x4gb ram, but thats just me, can always check out ram usage if you get an SSD/GPU

A larger SSD if you feel it would be beneficial wouldn't be a bad idea.

I use my SSD for OS, BF4, and have 60GB free for any games I am planning on completing swiftly. Other games I play on and off, I stick on my 1TB HDD.

I have a similar ish setup.

Waiting for next gen processors to upgrade. Just get a SSD and a nice fancy new graphic card (try stretch to a r9 290 if you can) and overclock the nuts out of the 930. Should be good for a while longer!

SSD won't improve gaming performance just general loading times and responsiveness

I'd still go with one though as everyone seems to now :p

The 930 at 4.0GHz is fine another 200H does not make that much difference.

As l have just upgraded from x58 P6T DLX 930:4.0GHz 12GB SLI 670.

I have benched at 4.0/4.2GHZ single and SLI 670 there's very little in it and the SSD extra ram and better GPU is the way to go.
