Time to upgrade my CPU?

Hi guys,
So on my main rig lately I have come to the realisation that maybe its time to update my CPU.
I have recently upgraded my monitor to a 1080p 144hz screen and bought a GTX1080 to go with it to get the wonderful experience of 144FPS.
However, on Battlefield 1, running at ultra it seems my CPU bottlenecks my GPU now and I cannot push much higher than 100FPS. If I overclock the CPU to 4.5 then things get better but my CPU temps start to creep up to mid to high 70's.
WHat do you think? Is this an acceptable temp to be hitting? Im used to seeing 50's with my H110V2 cooler so watching the temps increase has me slightly worried.

Cheers

Sorry I did mean to add the info in... I have an i7 4770k. Its been rock solid for everything up to this point and trying to achieve 144hz. I can happily live with 100fps as it still feels like such a great jump from 60fps. Im just wondering if maybe its a sign of things to come though!

Thats the thing though... I can just about achieve it with the overclocks in place. Do you think 70-80 degrees C is ok to run for extended periods?

Thanks :)

Thanks for the replies.

I found an "Intel Temperature Guide" on tomshardware website and it states that temps upto 80c are acceptable for sustained periods at max load, anything over is not recommended. Based on Intel data sheets.

With that said, my temps at 75c are happily within the realms of acceptability. =Me happy :)

At ultra with the CPU overclocked to 4.5Ghz I get 142fps on BF1 by the way if anyone was interested. I overclocked using the Motherboard bios "CPU Upgrade" tool.

Thanks
