PC upgrade, hows this look?

Hi, Im about to upgrade my friends PC. All he needs to change is the processor, motherboard and RAM. Its mainly used for music and some video editing and doesnt go online and will not be overclocked.
Was looking at this spec, would it all work well together?
Intel Core i7 860 2.80Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1156)

Gigabyte GA-P55-US3L Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard

Corsair XMS3 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit

Would a better motherboard give any benefits and is 8GB of RAM overkill?

cheers, Lee

A better motherboard will usually only mean higher OC,Well yes 8gb is over kill for what he wants to do....4gb will be more than enough...Not knowing how much video editing he does i would say a i5 750 will be more than enough

When you say "some" video editing, does he do it professionally / as a hobbie or just on a rare occasion? The only reason to upgrade to an i7 in my opinion is if you are:
a) A gaming enthusiast that likes the new tech
b) An overclocking entusiast
c) A professional video editor that does a lot of rendering

He does "mash-ups" and remixes and makes the video for them then upoads them to a popular video site, not a pro or anything.

So an i5 with the motherboard and RAM I sugested but 4GB instead of 8GB will be good?
