time to upgrade the 8800GTX

yea, the 4890 will be fine! The 4870 X2 is probably more powerful, but you wont need it so keep the extra 90 or so pounds for yourself :p

You'd get free shipping anyway with your post count :)

i've used the free shipping many times but being 5 miles away its a bit lazy!

and what's more if there moving where i think they are they'll be within walking distance soon.

Will go and have a chat with my pal today and perhaps take a trip up there!

i really can't decide now.

he's a heavy gamer with every fps and rts game going.

looking for something to last as long as the GTX has but perhaps he should be looking at changing some other components as with an e6600 he's a bit left behind!

(and he doesn't like to overclock for some strange reason! even though he's seen me do it and keep my system stable countless times!)

Nothing wrong with the rest of the system really, an overclock would be nice but it's hardly going to stop the 4890 dead in it's tracks if you don't!

4890 should still be more than enough. The X2 really spreads it's wings above and beyond that. :)

after all that went to get the 4870x2 and they had no stock in that particular warehouse!!!! so am holding off and saving for an i7 rig now!
