Hey guys, I'm new to the forums so firstly i hope you all had a good Christmas and have a great New Year.

I've currently ordered a new build considering the Xmas 5% discount was too tempting :D.
Now i have an EVGA Nvidia 9800 gt 1gb graphics card, and was just wondering whether i should upgrade, as I've had this card now for a year+.
Do you guys think it'll still be good for todays gaming etc?

Hi and welcome

What sort of upgrade budget have you got in mind?

This shows a comparison between the 9800 (basically a rebranded 8800) and a current mid-high end card, as you can see quite a difference

Depending what res you game at.

If it is 1680 res, then it should still handle majority of the games 'ok'; but for 1920 res, it will really struggle in the newer game titles (my 9800GTX+ did if BFBC2 even with HBAO disabled). For 1920 res, ideally you should look at GTX460 1GB or 6850 as the minimum if you want to game at higher quality with 4xAA, 16xAF.

Well the upgrade will be next month atleast, but the budget will be around abouts £125-£175 but im one of them people who will probly spend a little more :).
But i'd prefer to be playing games at 1920, i mean who wouldnt?

What rest of your system specs ??

PSU
CPU
Memory

At that price range you be looking at a ATI 5850 or nvidia GTX 460

Or for only £190 you can get the ATI 5870 which was ATI fastest single GPU card only a few months ago ;)
