Hey all , i wanna pick you brains a bit.

Currently have a sapphire tri x 290 4gb card in and i want to upgrade and am willing to spend up to £280 ish , think i want to try nvidia this time round as i don't like the the catalyst Amd runs on , (looks cheap ?)

Any one have any suggestions ??

I have been looking at the https://www.overclockers.co.uk/20-p...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-352-as.html

Wadda ya think ??

Worth it ??

I'm on the market for a new card but i'm comming from a GTX580 and want to go to a R9 390.

Going from a tri x 290 to a GTX970 is surely just a side step and not a leap forward. If you want an upgrade you should be looking at 980ti.

Going from a highish end 4gb card to a slightly higher end 4gb card isnt worth nearly £300

I'd wait for the next gen cards. The 290 is still a brilliant card and in the price range you are looking at then there's not much of an upgrade. I have a 290 and I'm happy to wait until next year to start looking at upgrading (though a lot of that will be driven by how well my card works with the VR headsets...)

Yea looked a bit more into it , im forgetting i won this card on an auction site so i didnt pay the brand new price for it , just under £200 if i remember correctly.So on that basis £280 would have been an upgrade

Another 290 would be best bang for buck, but as Juggy said, it would be more of a sidegrade than anything.

GTX980Ti or wait.

Personally, I prefer the AMD CCP to the Nvidia CP, and if I remember rightly, AMD are releasing something new on that front very soon? I wish the Nvidia one would get a make over.

290 = 390, it's not old at all.

Unless you are going 980ti don't bother, and to be honest as everyone else has said, wait for 14/16nm. We've been on 28nm 4 years now, it's not long to go!

Seeing as the responce has been almost identical from you all , i shall put my money back into my pocket for now TYVM all

If the users of this forum are anything to go by, there are a lot of us waiting for 14/16nm, so if nothing else, you'll be able to buy up used 980s and 980tis for pennys on the pound when they come out!
