Right, so I had Leopard installed and working with Time Machine.
I then updated to Snow Leopard and all is well.

I need to send my mac off for repair (hardware issues).

So, can I use the Snow Leopard CD to blank the machine and then use Time Machine to restore it when it comes back?

Whats the best way to do this?

Assuming that the last time machine backup was made after the installation of Snow Leopard, then yes. If the backup is just Leoard, then you might run into some problems, but it would probably work. Perosnally I would also backup my data manually, at least essential files. Time machine is great , but I still don't trust any automated backup system 100%. In the process of doing this myself now.

Ehen you get the machine back boot from the SL disk, you will then have an option in the menu bar (top of the screen) to restore from a time machine backup.

Good luck

I kind of had the same thing in that I backed everything from 10.5.8 to Time machine.
Did a clean install of SL
Used Migration Assistant to copy over a few apps from 10.5.8 and Time Machine to drag back Doc Folders, etc.
It all worked squeaky clean for me.

Don't see why it shouldn't for you. ;)
