Just got off the phone from my local Ford dealer and they have quoted me £200 for changing the timing belt on my Focus, just wondering if you think this is a good price or shall I keep hunting??

What sort of price should I be looking at to get the timing belt changed?

£200 is pretty good for a main dealer.

I just paid £290 for cambelt / waterpump change and air con diagnosis from skoda.

£200 would be just the belt change I would imagine, if it is a full kit though including the idler/tensioners then thats a cracking price.

Does depend on the car though, im presuming the labour on the Focus is not too bad. Some cars its insane though, e.g. Fiet Coupe - £500 + I hear

That doesn't sound too bad, my old Mk4 Golf GTI at a main dealer was near £600...

Not sure if the Focus ST170 is a chain or belt though, can't see it clearly enough..

Zetec engines including the ST170 are belt driven, sounds like a good price, but as said and make sure the idler is included in the change whilst its all apart :)

Only at a main stealer because they drop the engine. You can get it done at independents for "as little as" £350.

thats still a 12 hour job on the fiat.

£200 is a amazing price for a dealer.

i would have expected about £320 from ford tbh.

the local ford place charges £80 an hour, the belt is about 25 quid and the tensioner depending on type upto 68. book time is 2.5 hours.

+vat= £338
