Timing belt question - Volvo V40

Hello all.

Just wondering if anybody knows if and when this should be done? I can't see anything in the manual and can't find anything definitive online.

It is a 62 plate if that helps.

maybe ring Volvo and ask them, I don't know about Volvos but they may use timing chains now instead of belts

Belts on these.

I believe you're looking at 6 years/108,000 miles but would definitely be worth confirming.

I shall give them a bell tomorrow.. currently on 75,500 miles and I know some cars require it done around 80k

That's only for post 2013 v40s. OP is unlikely to be in that bracket with it being a 62 plate.

Bosch tech data shows it as 10 years or 87,000 miles (140k km).

10 years!! That seems awfully long. I know belts wear with use, but they'd also deteriorate over time.

Just sorting out the timing belt for my partners Seat Ibiza, and that's 4 years/80k.

I agree. Mine on the porsche is 6 years or 60k.

Ford tends to have a long recommendation too. My partner has just hit the 80k mark in her 2012 Focus so I decided to look into her belt replacement, turns out its 10 years or around 100k! For reference my car had a 4 year schedule. I believe seat have increased that to 5 now last time I checked on the service website.

10 year belt intervals are pretty common now, some cars are 150k/10 years or more now.

Volvo got back to me today and it is 7 years or 87500 miles.
