Timing of Halo3 Stroke of genius?

You missed part of the genius.
By releasing H3 first, it will cause a surge in sales of the 360. Then loads of cross platform games will also come out, but seeing as how loads of people will have just got a 360, they will be eager for another game or two and so get a few more 360 games. Boosts 360 games sales nicely, and makes publishers favour the 360 even more.
If it was the other way around, people might have bought the third party games on the PC/PS3 etc. Then go, but I only want a 360 for H3, so not bother.
If GTA4 had not been delayed, it could have resulted in a larger number of people buying the 360 version over the PS3, rather than the other way around.

I'd say its better than November... A large portion of the Halo fanbase is secondary-school age so a September release gives plenty of time to play (including the Halloween break) before the winter exam period.SebC said:It's a good release date no doubt. But I wouldn't say its a stroke of genius
