Timing out...

Really starting to annoy me, I mean I don't really download much but I need to download the latest F.E.A.R. patch. If I want demos/patches I always get them from Xfire as it doesn't time out. But on the net it always times out no matter what I download and I just restart from the beggining and I never get it downloaded, example:

Tried several times, keeps doing it I have no idea why my downloads from the net always time out. :confused:

telewest dont have a limit, you do mean 4mb though, right?

try Dling it in firefox?

Yeah 4MB, and I've tried with Firefox, that times out but it just sits at the MB it timed out at and doesn't move. Doesn't come up an error.

Yeah I tried some but it times out even faster on those. Xfire only have the American full 1.08 patch and that won't work since I have the UK version of the game.

have you tryed downloading other large files

is this a problem with your machine, or the people hosting that file ?

Do you use a router or just a modem? Perhaps try re-setting the router?

You could always try using a download manager like Getright

I dunno.

I use a router and a modem surfboard.

Tried resetting.

Had this problem for years, im not a big downloader anyway, but using say P2P programs and Xfire never time out. But internet always does. I can play games online fine enough though.

I'll try a download manager, but I shouldn't have to. Just want to know why I get this problem.

You should use firefox with flashget and flashgot so if anything times out you can resume your downloads.

Sounds like your getting some packet loss issues. I would speak to Tech Support and ask them to run a test, or google for one yourself. If you do get packet loss they (virigin media) will need to send out an engineer.
