Timings Issue

I am currently using G. Skill 12800C7 RAM that should have timings of 7-7-7-24 however, when I run CPU-Z it says the timings are 9-9-9-24.

In order to get the RAM to run at 1600MHz I had to alter something in the BIOS.
Do I also have to manually alter the timings?
Having never done that before, is it just the first 4 numbers I should change from auto?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to enable the XMP profile of your ram?

That will automatically set your ram to the advertised settings.

Thanks, all sorted now.

Boy did that make me feel like a dumbass.

Mate do not stress it. There are no instruction manuals that come with ram. It is just taken for granted that everyone knows how to do stuff and that is certainly not the case. There are no stupid questions only stupid answers. Maybe 200 or 2000 people over time will read your question and the answer - so by you asking you have in fact helped many people who will search for the same question and solution in the future.

Enjoy your set up. :)
