Cas 6-8-6-24

OR

Cas 7-8-7-20

Both triple channel kits PC3-12800 (1600MHz)

Theoretically which set of timings would be faster?. Not really bothered whether the difference is noticeable or not, just trying to work out which is faster for now.

No.

You did only want the short answer. And no details right.

If you want details as to why no is the factual answer then read a article written by Kris Boughton at the Techrepository about latency and ram scaling. He is the same dude that writes for Anandtech now. One seriously bright lad.

Basically it all depends on your actual speed of the ram. So there are times when cas 8 will be quicker than cas 6 for example. However when comparing ram running at the same frequency then lower is better as a rule of thumb. But you will not notice it in the real world. Not at all.

It's only worth doing in my opinion if your overclock is being limited because the RAM can't run at a faster frequency, not really ever worth it for purely better timings in real world applications.

My overclock is fine, shame that. Been trying to find an excuse to justify purchasing a rather seductive looking Mushkin kit.
