Tinings differ from packing

Can anyone enlighten me as to why the Corsair XMS2 6400 C4 I'm using has 4-4-4-12 on the labels but the mobo uses 5-5-5-18 as standard in auto mode?

I see, so you guys are saying that I need to go into the bios and change timings and up the vdimm to 2.1v?

Ok here we go again. I have been trying and failing to OC my rig for the last month now. And yet again adjusting the setting gives me looping or BSOD. With the bios at ALL stock settings, I changed the RAM to the rated 2.1v and the timing to 4-4-4-12 as it says on the website and the side of the RAM. Woo Hoo BSOD. Whatever I do I can't win and more to the point Memtest running overnight fails to detect any issues.
