Tinted/Translucent Film?

Does anyone know of any tape/material I could use to stick over my speedometer that would hide it from camera view? I'm looking to hide it from the camera but still be able to see it myself.

I'm thinking of that stuff you can only see through when looking at it from a certain angle. I have no idea what it's called though...

Maybe, but it would be more effort etc. I'm not that fast by any means, but it's just something I don't want to be thinking about whilst out with the camera

Ok, say I'm doing 57mph in a 50. Are you saying they would spot my video on Facebook and decide to work out the precise speed I was doing in the absense of a speedometer? I wouldn't have thought they could be that accurate, especially with framerate changes etc?

Even if the speedometer states 57mph on film, there's still a small percentage of play. All I'm looking to do is remove that particular visual from the film. Yes, I could do this in post production, but I'm lazy

I'll take a punt on the screen privacy filter and report back for anyone else interested.

@ShakenNstirred: After trying helmet mounting (too much drag) and tank mounting (in the way when hunkering down and lots of vibration), I've gone with a chest harness. Great smooth footage without even noticing the camera there.

That's what I figured. I don't ride like a nob, but I do over extend the speed limit a little bit from time to time, as I think every biker does. It's just one less thing to think about when I stick the camera on is all.

I'm fully aware that if I was involved in a collision, they most likely would put the effort in to work out if speeding was a factor etc.

Ok, quick update.

I went ahead and ordered the privacy screen from the link above (SUPERIOR PRIVACY LCD SCREEN PROTECTOR GUARD/FILM FOR iPad 2 3 New iPad 4 Retina).

When it arrived I cut a piece out to fit my speedometer and stuck it on.

Not a huge difference really, but it does almost hide the digital "0" that's on the display here:

It's still visible from my eye level though, albeit slightly tinted.

That would be ok if I didn't need to keep an eye on my speed

Regarding the angle, I did twist the film around from its original orientation, but must admit I didn't really spend much time experimenting. Ended up taking an evening ride up the Cat n Fiddle instead. Didn't get back til gone 10pm

I'll have another look tomorrow.
