Took the kids to see this, as a lifelong tintinologist, I can say this is probably the best you can get without upsetting the fans, excellent animation and a good storyline that doesn't rip apart Herge's originals or stray from the path. I couldn't help thinking that a lot was cut out, though.

10/10

Just superb. A wonderful experience. Jaw just kept dropping. Tintin was treated with the same care as LOTR.

Saw in it in IMAX. I have an active dislike of Tintin from youth but this was just a top notch film

Brilliant, and usually, worth seeing in 3D. Kids and I loved it (but then was a massive fan of the books when I was young)..

How sad...

I'll reserve my opinion until I've seen it, but for goodness sake I wish some people would lighten up.

Why?

He clearly points out that he feels it's moved away from what made the comic so special for him as a child and talks about this is a perfectly well structured article.

Never been a fan of something for them to remake or relaunch it? Then for you to play or watch that something and it really bitterly disappoint you?

Huge fan of the books, but gutted after watching the film.

Basically took 3 different stories and mashed them together to make one. :(

I saw it on wednesday (in 2d though due to timing) and I really enjoyed it! They picked one of the comics that I couldn't remember as well (though I do remember reading it) and made a very enjoyable film.

The CGI is just too good but the way the plot was portrayed was really rather good. I usually find transitions from book to film tend not to work as they can get the pacing wrong (one or two of the 90's cartoons were rushed a little or had the odd really slow point) but this was balanced very well, along with having really well done music to make the film come alive out side of the action and dialogue.

Anyway I found it very enjoyable either way.

'Crab with the Golden claws' ;)

Saw it last night. Distinctly 'meh'. Tintin doesn't have much personality, everything's a little flat, and it just lacks fizz.

It's definitely a kid's film as well, although there is a few violent moments. There are a few things that you watch and just think "Well, no, that's not going to happen/work", or "Why is that going on?".

I also got a bit tired of the plot being continually pointed out and pushed along by Tintin - but then again, as mentioned, it's a kid's film. Not classy, stylised or refined like the books.

There are some great visuals, don't get me wrong. See it in 2D though - in 3D there's nothing extra to be had barring a few flecks of dust and the odd 'I'm pointing this at the screen' moment.

They also do that blindingly irritating thing of showing you the entire film in the intro sequence. Instantly annihilated my will to watch the rest of it.

I'd just watch it on DVD, if you must :)

True, I can think of some things (like the direction the mass effect series seems to be taking), but I can't think of anything that has wound me up to the point of feeling sickened by it and needing to rant in such a way. *Edit* I mean, the guy likened it to murder and rape... a bit ott in my opinion *

Besides, although I have a great fondness for different books/films/games/etc based on my personality, I accept I have no say or control over anything I haven't created.

So if something takes a different direction or is done in a different way I might drift away from that thing (or just ignore the parts I don't like).

For example, if disney made a really cheesy animated film of Redwall (a series close to my heart), I'd probably not like it at all. I wasn't too keen on the TV series in any case. But has that changed the content of the books? No, they're still the same, and I'll just ignore the film.

Watched it tonight, it's actually quite good. 3D was an absolute waste of a couple of quid mind, i'd recommend just going to the 2D showing. The CGI was brilliant and the plot quite decent.

I did notice the bits about Tintin driving the plot along, and the action almost goes too "cartoony" and detracts from the experience somewhat (like where unrealistic things happen) but it doesn't spoil the experience too badly.

I'd give it a 7.5/10. Go and see it when it's BOGOF.

Saw this on Wednesday, was impressed by it.

My lady friend couldn't get her head round how they did the CGI :p "It looks real though, like the backgrounds" :D I agree, at times, and certain shots I forgot I was watching a CGI film, it looked amazing (2D as I can't stand 3D) and the characters looked brilliant.

Thought the film was "okay" certainly wasn't poor, but not amazing either, what made the films were really good action scenes. Really impressed with them, the pace of the film was good too.

Really enjoyed it. Decent film :)
