I have been looking to get a new nas, however many are underpowered and overpriced. Decided to build my own

Ideally I want as small a case as possible, but the smallest one I found with 8+ bays is the fractal r3/r4. This is a bit big, does anything smaller exist?

Thanks

V354 is yeah, probably your best bet. It'll do 7. I'm pretty sure you can also install SSDs in the bottom of the case.

So that would get you up to 8 if your OS drive will be on a small SSD....

Check to make sure, but yeah, I think so.

Bitfenix Prodigy. I'm currently modding mine to take 14 drives (the mod allows 15). You can fit 10 drives no problem. Just need a bracket.

I have the Lian Li V354 and it can fit a lot in there.

Depends on the mobo your using

I've had the Silverstone LC17 for a week. There is room for six HDDs in the internal slots, and you could almost certainly convert the two external slots to 3.5" as well. It's a good piece of kit and no bigger than an old school desktop.
