Hi,

Looking for the smallest possible desktop speakers with 3.5mm jack, cant be USB, everything I've seen is USB so hoping someone might know of something I've missed.

Its due to down sizing my setup from already relatively small Creative T40's, sound quality isn't important as will be used very rarely for the odd Youtube video.

Anyone know of any tiny space saving speakers with 3.5mm jack?

Thanks

Creative T20 still too large?

If so; in height?

T10's are shorter again. Just under 20cm.

Logitech Z150 look smaller again and have a 3.5mm analogue input.

OK. So width and depth then.

Z150 are about 8cm which is about the same as the Creative's, just not as deep.

Logitech S120 are the smallest I can see at 6.4cm x 6.4cm. I'd be surprised if there is anything smaller that isn't 2.1 speakers with very slim satellites.

Thanks mate I'll check them out, ocuk do some really slim edifier ones for £13 but usb only which is a shame

Yeah I saw those (M1250). I was going to mention them as they do have 3.5mm input until I realised they are USB powered rather than mains.

I guess many very small speakers are designed more for laptop use, where USB powered is probably preferred to mains.

Oh so the usb is just for the power not the sound? That's fine if that's the case

Yep. USB for power, 3.5mm cable for audio. Just checked the Edifier site to confirm that is correct.

Quarter of the power of the Logitech S120 though, at 0.6W, compared to 2.2W. Restrictions of using USB power. Whether they are loud enough I have no idea.

I know a guy who bought some really cheap USB powered speakers years ago and I mean really cheap. Not as good as Edifier and Logitech, etc, but I noticed they had very little power. Whether that's because they were cheap as chips, or because of USB power being too limiting, I don't know. I could hear them, but the volume was not what you could call satisfying.

Looking at user some comments, could only see one person mention they weren't loud enough.

USB power is pretty limiting for speaker use - at best you are talking around 2.5 amp at 5v - usually much less if powered from a PC/laptop directly - and if you boost the voltage and do any kind of proper filtering of it to remove switching noise then the kind of electronics at a cost that would be used in a consumer product due to price you are talking about a few hundred milliamp tops - so either you get a so-so amount of power with poor filtering of noise, etc. or fairly low power but a bit better quality.
