hi all this is my first post to ocuk hope u can help me out with this one.
so im thinking bout building a new pc.... but havin trouble figurin out what psu to use

so far my potensial pc will contain...
Intel Core2duo with 1333 MHz FSB, 2.33 GHz clock
EVGA nForce 650i Ultra Motherboard
GeForce 8500 GT 256MB DDR2 PCI-E Graphics
2 GB RAM @ 667 MHz
160 GB SATA + 40 GB IDE
16x DVD+-RW IDE (may add another similar drive possibly a SATA one)

ok thanks for that. im impressed with the super-swift response
so 400w - 620w range ther.... being the cheap-skate i am i may go for the 400w :D

im using a 300w in my current pc wher specs on box suggested a minimum of 350w :) but system run just fine, stable n everything.

In response to michael baxter, thanks for the advise i was meaning to ask for possible amendments i could make to these choises. The reason the 667 RAM is because iv already brought it for my current system and was going to use that instead of buying more :) as this is more of an upgrade then a new pc

since i forgot to mention this b4 heres a list of the parts i havnt got a was thinkin of buying:
Intel Core2duo with 1333 MHz FSB, 2.33 GHz clock
EVGA nForce 650i Ultra Motherboard
GeForce 8500 GT 256MB DDR2 PCI-E Graphics

also i was looking at the 8600 GT if i remeber right i think its bout £10 more so im a bit half/half bout it, to refer back to my previous comment, im a 'cheap-skate' LOL

as for the Motherboard i just dont have a clue on this one lol i just know its compatable with my others choises thats it :p also i need the whole chipset thing expained to me as i dont do this kinda thing full time

thanks for the help think this is my last query for now.

just checked... is it worth the extra £20 for the graphics card u suggest
and u said earlier that the P35 chip was better then the one on the board i chose, so how much better is it and how do i tell how 1 chipset is better then another... apart from price oc :)

my price budget is 'quite' flexable neway so i think ill stick with the 1333 but thanks for suggesting alternatives :)

ye lol, soz bout that but the thing thats really buggin me atm is this chipset thing, in the past whenever choising components iv never looked at the chipset as i never seen it as important as other specs, so am i right or wrong?
and how do i tell the difference?
